Wedding RSVP

July 23rd, 2010

When should I mail my wedding invitations?

This is my most frequently asked question. Most brides are shocked when I tell them 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding date is recommended by the most reputable wedding resources such as The Wedding Blue Book by Crane & Co. and Miss Manners’ Judith Martin. If invitations need to be mailed out in the summer or if guests are far flung, 6 to 8 weeks should be enough time for your guests to check their calendar and make arrangements to come. If you have guests that are traveling from a distance, no doubt you have informed them of the date either formally with a Save the Date card or informally. You don’t want to give guests weeks or months to respond to the invitation so I recommend making the wedding RSVP date 2 to 3 weeks after they are mailed. You’ll be seeing RSVPs coming back in the mail almost immediately!

Personalized Stationery

Communicating with a personal touch using personalized stationery.

Paper enthusiasts are excited about Barrie’s fine paper and specialty stationery store, The Paper Merchant.

At The Paper Merchant, you will find a large selection of stationery products that range from what interests the do-it-yourselfer to exclusive and fine stationery product lines that include Crane & Co., Japanese Paper, G. Lalo, Galison, and Clairefontaine.

“Hand writing a card or a note to a friend, loved one or more importantly, a client or business associate is still the most effective way to communicate with a personal touch,” said Jennifer Sibley. “I attended the DMH Public Relations & Communications Inc., Top 3 Consumer Attitudes & Buying Trends Seminar in March, and at the seminar, the subject matter and research proved that the number one way to connect with clients and people you network with is to establish a personal brand in addition to having your overall business brand. Presenting a personal brand allows people to feel special, part of something, or provides them with something that they will individually cherish or appreciate.”

Applying a personal approach has a greater impact than ever before. Owner Jennifer Sibley encourages professionals and business owners to come into the store and discover what specialty stationery they can use as part of their personal brand to increase their personal interaction with their clients or associates. The store is located at 13 Dunlop Street at the Five Points in downtown Barrie a few doors west of Bayfield Street on the south side of the street.
